TEACHING

Experience

My most recent teaching work is through Georgetown's Center for Multicultural Equity and Access. I teach in the Community Scholars Program, where I have taught a first-year Humanities and Writing class, over summer and fall terms. I have also taught English in Georgetown's Institute for College Preparation, which supports local DC high school students in college readiness. In both these programs, I have been very lucky to teach outstanding students. Below, you will find reviews shared with me by former students from these programs.

"Having Whitney Williams as a TA was one of the most helpful resources I received at Georgetown University. Not only did she help develop my skill as a writer but she also helped me to start thinking out side of the box when it came to writing essays.  I believe Whitney Williams has all the characteristics a teacher needs, patience, respect, professionalism and leadership, which is why she would be a greater teacher for future students. "Whitney possesses a tireless commitment and dedication to her students. For instance, after expressing my personally invested interest in Bone by Fae Myenne Ng, she handed me a fascinating analysis on the themes of the novel, going beyond her duties by finding me supplemental reading. Notably, she made sure to do so after the essay on Bone was due, fully conscious of the potential impact reading another analysis would have on my own. In addition, Whitney acted as the liaison between me and a professor whose class I wished to enroll in the following semester and continues to follow-up with me about my academic progress and even life, showing how much she genuinely cares for her students both in and out of the classroom."
